On 9 March 2008 the RWPGM accepted an invitation for the members of the PGL to visit the Barr Castle, receive a guided tour around the ancient, and historic building, view the Museum on the top floor and end the day with the customary "331" hospitality. The visitors were met by RWM Bro Joe Fitzgerald and welcomed to the Castle. PM Brother Tom Murray then gave a most informative historical account of the Building in the Apron Room (the lower part of the Castle). After making our way upstairs to the Lodge Room we were again given a very instructive description of that part of the Castle. The PGM being invited to don some replica Armour to the delight of those present. (The things you have to do to please some folk!!) The final part of the tour meant ascending the winding staircase to the top floor into the Lodge Museum. The Museum holds a wealth of information and displays associated with both Freemasonry and Galston itself. Everyone was delighted to spend a considerable amount of time there. Again we were enthralled with the knowledge that PM Bro. Murray has about the artefacts on display. The close of an excellent social afternoon was spent in the comfort of the Barr Castle Social Club where the Lodge had provided a magnificent buffet which was enjoyed by all. Truly a most entertaining day and the PGL thanks Lodge St Peter No.331 for hosting the event. Substitute PGM Bro.Drew Rankine gave a grateful vote of thanks to the Lodge on behalf of PGL.
