On 11 April 2009 Lodge Irvine St Andrew hosted the now annual gathering of the St. Andrew Lodges under the Scottish Constitution. RWM Bro. James Dempster welcomed the RWMs of the visiting lodges and then welcomed a Deputation from PGLA headed by DPGM Bro. Robert Little into the Lodge. An EA degree was conferred on one candidate, Hugh Smith, by a team from the visiting St Andrews Lodges.

On 9 April 2009 RWM of Lodge Dunlop Caledonia No. 1408 Bro. Fraser Craig, welcomed a Deputation from the PGLA headed by SPGM Bro. Drew Rankine accompanied by DPGM Bro. Robert Little. After the Lodge business was completed DPGM Bro. Robert Little presented a 50 year Diploma to Bro. John Mc Bride PM, this was exactly 50 years to the date when Bro. John was initiated. SPGM Bro. Drew Rankine then carried out the business of the annual visitation and gave Dunlop Caledonia a clear minute.

On Wednesday 25 March 2009 the RWPGM headed the PGL Annual Visitation to Lodge St Thomas No.201, Muirkirk. RWM Bro. Roy Brown presiding on this occasion. The Lodge was granted a clear minute.
On Tuesday 31 March 2009 the RWPGM attended a Special Meeting of the Lodges within the No.5 Area hosted by Lodge St Barnabas No.230 in their new premises, Cumnock Town Hall. RWM Bro Kenneth Kidd presided over a busy meeting, almost 80 brethren present. The RWMs or representatives of Lodges No.133, 201, 230, 334, 497 and 1011 conferred a second degree. This was the first occasion for around 20 years that such a meeting has been held. The success of the evening must surely mean that it will once again become an annual event.

Substitute Provincial Grand Master Brother Drew Rankin accompanied by Substitute Provincial Grand Master Brother Neville Clark, headed a Deputation from the Provincial Grand Lodge into Lodge Wallace St. Hugh, Crosshill No. 1212 on 30 March for the purpose of the Annual Visitation. After welcoming the Deputation, Right Worshipful Master Bro. James MacDonald conducted the normal Lodge business including a Third Degree. Thereafter Provincial Grand Lodge conducted the business of the Annual Visitation and Lodge Wallace St Hugh received a clear minute.

At a special meeting held on 20 March, Bro. Les Pearson RWM of Dalry Blair No. 290, welcomed the PGM Archibald Chalmers and a small Deputation into the Lodge. A Deputation from Lodge St. John (Kilwinning) Largs No. 173, headed by RWM Bro. Alan Rodger was also welcomed into the Lodge. The RWM and conferring team from Lodge St John conferred a second degree.


An auspicious occasion. Thursday 19 March 2009 saw Lodge Fergusson St. James No. 566 Annual PGL visitation, led by Depute Provincial Grand Master Bro. Robert Little. After an enjoyable working of the second degree and the award of a clear minute came the highlight of the evening when Worshipful Bro. Andrew McCartney PM Treas was presented with the jewel of Honorary Provincial Grand Lodge Standard Bearer. Over the years Andrew has been a tireless worker and ambassador for Fergusson St. James, which he refers to affectionately as"The Wee Ludge". Never one to seek the limelight, Andrew has come to be held in the highest esteem and affection by all who know him. A 'Freemason' in every sense of the word, it was a privilege to have been present on this memorable evening.

On Wednesday 28 March 2009, Right Worshipful Master Bro. Robert Laird welcomed a Deputation from the PGLA into Lodge Girvan St. Johns No. 237 for the annual visitation. The Deputation was headed by Substitute Provincial Grand Master Bro. William Steel. Substitute Provincial Grand Master Bro. William Raeside accompanied the Deputation. Lodge 237 received a clear minute.

On 11 March, SPGM Neville Clark and Bro Ian Gemmell visited Lodge Ayr St Paul No. 204. RWM Bro. Bryan Love welcomed the deputation and the visitors into the Lodge. The master’s son Kris received his third degree from the conferring team which included his father and grandfather. After the degree, Honorary Membership was conferred on 2 brethren from the Major Rupert Stanley Memorial Lodge No. 831 in County Antrim, under the Irish Constitution, Bro. Andrew Hamilton RWM and Bro. Edmond Cushley Secretary.
The Annual Visitation to Lodge Loudoun (Kilwinning) Newmilns No. 51 took place on 10 March. The Deputation, which was headed by Substitute Provincial Grand Master Bro. William Raeside, was warmly welcomed into the Lodge by Right Worshipful Master Bro. Stuart Lyons. Bro. Elijah Beattie Right Worshipful Master of Lodge Thistle No. 127 gave a short talk on the association between the Church Manse and Robert Burns. SPGM Bro. William Raeside carried out the business of Provincial Grand Lodge and gave Lodge LKN No. 51 a clear minute.
