A celebration dinner was held on 3 June 2011 to celebrate 100 years of service by two distinguished Brethren of the Province. RWM Bro. David M Dick of Lodge The Bonnie Doon No.565 celebrates 50 years as Secretary in his Mother Lodge while Bro. William Thomson of Lodge Thistle and Rose No.169 has been Treasurer of his Mother Lodge for 50 years. The evening was hosted within the premises of Lodge Prestwick No.1060 and chaired by the RWPGM. Bro. Stuart Muirhead PM Lodge St James Newton-upon-Ayr No.125 PGSD spoke on the life and Masonic achievement of BWM Bro. David Dick, while Bro. George Reid IPM Lodge Thistle and Rose No.169 spoke on the life and Masonic achievement of Bro. William Thomson. Tributes were paid by DGMM Bro. Hugh Bryson, DPGM Bro. Robert Little and the RWPGM. Tributes were also paid by The RWM of Lodge 169 and the IPM of Lodge 565 whilst poems were read by Bro. Joe Baird PM No.127. Both Brethren replied to all the toasts given and were clearly moved by the tributes paid and attendance of the Brethren. PG Sen Chaplain Bro. Rev. Iain Macdonald then addressed the Brethren. The night was rounded up by a vote of thanks to all who participated and in particular Lodge Prestwick 1060 who provided hospitality and service throughout the evening.
On Tuesday 31 May 2011 the RWPGM headed a large Deputation from PGL into Lodge Boswell St James No.1011. The purpose of the visit was to present PM Bro. John Thomson and PM Bro. Tom Patrick with their Jubilee Certificates marking 50 years faithful service to the Craft. Brother John was also presented with his IPM jewel, the RWM with his Installed Master Diploma nd Bro. Alistair Russell with his MM and Mark Diplomas. A very pleasant time was enjoyed by all both during and after the meeting.
On Saturday 28 May 2011 the RWPGM attended a Special Meeting of Lodge Girvan St John's No.237, RWM Bro. Kevin Gibson presiding. Lodge Prestwick No.1060, headed by RWM Bro. Phil Radwell, conferred a Mark Degree. Included in the PGL Deputation were DPGM Bro. Robert Little, SPGM Bro. William Steel, Bro. Stewart Cruickshank, Bro. Ian Gemmill and SPGW Bro. Duncan Fenwick who led the Deputation. The meeting was held to raise charitable funds. £331.48 was realised which will be rounded up to £350 for the Davidson Ward Patient Comfort Fund of the new Girvan Community Hospital
On Saturday 21 May 2011 the RWPGM attended a Special Meeting of Lodge St John RA No.320, IPM Bro. Colin Boyd in the Chair. The purpose of the meeting was to allow Lodge St Molios No.774, of the Isle of Arran, to confer the Master Mason Degree. RWM Bro. Donald Ian Mackay and his large deputation performed a faultless ceremony which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in attendance. Acommpanying the PGM were Past SPGW Bro. William Haggarty, PG Sword-bearer Bro. Stephen McConnachie, PG Committee member Bro. George Reid and Brothers George Japp Lyle, Robert Crawford and John Corbett members of the PGL of Argyll and the Isles.
RWPGM Bro.Archibald Chalmers and a Deputation from PGLA visited Lodge Beith St. Johns No.157, on 19 May 2011 where they were welcomed by RWM Bro. David Stephenson. The purpose of the visit was to present a Distinguished Service Certificate to Bro. William Black PM. After the presentation, RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers gave a talk on the three number 0's.
On 18 May 2011 IPM Bro. Robert Laird welcomed a Deputation from PGLA into Lodge Girvan St. Johns No.237. The Deputation was headed by SPGM Bro. Drew Rankine. After the business of the Lodge was completed, PGLA Chaplain Bro. Rev. Ian Benzie showed a DVD which depicted his previous Church, Kilbirnie Auld Kirk. The DVD gave an insight into the history of the church and the many examples of workmanship.
On 16 May 2011, RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers headed a Deputation into Lodge Dalry Blair No.290. After being welcomed by RWM Bro. Colin Dunn, PGL Chaplain Bro. Rev. Ian Benzie carried out the Dedication on New Office-bearers Regalia. The RWPGM then gave a talk called Copy Cats, which gave a brief introduction into organisations which appear to have copied Freemasonry.
On Thursday 12 May 2011 the RWPGM, accompanied by DPGM Bro. Robert Little and SPGM Bro. Sam Peden, attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge St Marnock No.109. The RWM, Bro. Ian Johnstone, welcomed the PGM and his Deputation who were accompanied by Bro. William Cowell Shepherdson PPGM of Glasgow and Bro. Robert Neilson PSPGW of Glasgow. Brother Shepherdson delivered a most interesting and informative talk on "The stone which the builders rejected".
On Tuesday 10 May 2011 Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Bro. Archibald Chalmers visited Lodge Royal Arch No.314 in West Kilbride and was welcomed into the Lodge by Right Worshipful Master Bro. Martin McGinn. After the business was complete PM Bro. Gordon Middleton and his conferring team conferred a 3rd degree on his son Bro. Greig.
On Thursday 5 May 2011 the RWPGM attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Irvine St Andrew No.149 and witnessed an excellent second degree conferred by RWM Bro. Andrew Hamilton and the Brethren of Lodge St Andrew Kilmarnock No.126. He also assisted the RWM of 149, Bro. Ian Gunnion, to present a 60 year membership Diploma to Bro. AF Miller. The PGM was accompanied by PG Chaplain Bro. Rev Ian Benzie and Bro. J S Cruickshank.
On 3 May 2011, SPGM Bro. Samuel Peden visited Lodge Burns St. Mary Hurlford No. 505, where he introduced to the Lodge, Bro. Iain McPhee SPGM of Renfrewshire East. After welcoming the Provincial Deputation into the Lodge RWM Bro. Derek Smith gave a special welcome to Bro. Iain. Chaplain Bro Ivy Rennie presented a statue of Bro. Robert Burns to the Lodge. After the Lodge was closed, RWPGM Bro. Iain McPhee gave an excellent talk on the ritual and customs of his Mother Lodge, The Lodge of Erskine No. 1566. RWM Bro. Derek Smith made a donation of £150 from 505 to 1566 for the Erskine Hospital.
The Spring Communication was held on 29 Apr 2011 in Kilmarnock Masonic Halls. A larger number of Brethren were in attendance with a particularly large Deputation of visiting Brethren from the Sister Provinces. These were headed by RWPGM Bro. James L Jack of Lanarkshire Middle Ward who is now nearing the end of his term in office. RWPGM Jack spoke at length on the efficiency of the business of the evening and of the friendship between the Provinces. He also presented the Singles Golf Salver to the winning Lodge Prestwick No.1060. Bro. George Bell PM Paisley St James No.1116 was presented with a certificate for completing his PGLA passport by visiting every Lodge in PGLA. Following the close of the meeting, the Brethren were given the hospitality of Lodge St Clement Riccarton (Kil) Kilmarnock No.202 where Bro. John Oliver PM and Mrs Oliver were thanked by the RWPGM for the sterling work they do to provide the Brethren with refreshment following the meetings.
The regular meeting of Lodge The Bonnie Doon No.565 on Wednesday the 27 April was a memorable occasion, when RWM Bro. David Dick was presented with a Distinguished Service Diploma to mark his achievement of 50 years as Secretary of the Lodge. Earlier, the RWM received a Deputation from PGL Ayrshire headed by RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers followed by the introduction of a Deputation from The Grand Lodge of Scotland, headed by the RWDGM Bro. Hugh Bryson.The assembled Brethren then enjoyed witnessing Mr. William Black being initiated into the Lodge by the RWM and the Office-bearers and in the presence of his Father and Grandfather. Bro. Billy was welcomed into the Lodge by the RWDGM and the RWPGM who were then made Honorary Members of the Lodge.
On Tuesday 26 April the RWPGM, accompanied by DPGM Bro. Robert Little, attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Loudoun (Kil) No.51. RWM Bro. Stefan Bain presided. The RWPGM presented PM Bro. Alex Young with a Distinguished Service Diploma on behalf of the Lodge. PM Young joined the Lodge in 1958 became RWM in 1966 and has continued to serve his Mother Lodge ever since. Congratulations. On Saturday 23 April 2011 the RWPGM and his wife, Sadie, attended the Annual Ball of Lodge St Peter No. 331 held in the Barr Castle Social Club, Galston. RWM Bro/ Liam Stewart presiding. An excellent social night was enjoyed by all present.
On Thursday 21 April 2011 the RWPGM attended the presentation of a cheque for £1700 to Help for Heroes by Brother John Taylor RWM of Lodge Neptune Kilwinning No.442. After the presentation the Lodge welcomed a Deputation from Lodge St John (Kilwinning) No.173 headed by RWM Brother Andrew Anderson. The Visiting Lodge conferred an excellent Mark Master Mason Degree upon a candidate. The PGM also presented Brother Robert McEwan with his Mark Degree Diploma.
On 20 April 2011, RWM Bro. Duncan Reid of Lodge St. Thomas Kilwinning Dalmellington No.433 welcomed a Deputation form PGLA for the Annual Visitation. The Deputation was headed by RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers, accompanied by RWPGM Bro. John Brockie of Perthshire West, and SPGM Bro. William Raeside. The Lodge was granted a clear minute.
On Tuesday 12 April 2011 the RWPGM, accompanied by Brother J S Cruickshank, attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Thistle and Rose No. 169. RWM Brother Stewart Gray presided over an excellent Fellowcraft degree conferred on two candidates. The PGM presented Brother William Hunter PM with his Jubilee Certificate followed by a Distinguished Service Diploma to a very surprised Brother William Thomson, Lodge Treasurer for the past 50 years.
On Tuesday 5 April 2011 the RWPGM (in disguise as a PM of his Mother Lodge) assisted with the presentation of a 50 Year Membership Diploma to Brother John Hall at Lodge Thistle No.127. RWM Bro. Roddy Murray presiding. Lodge Irvine St Andrew No.149, headed by RWM Bro. Ian Gunnion, conferred a Master Mason Degree. On Wednesday 6 April 2011 the RWPGM, accompanied by Bro. David C. Bloomfield RWPGM of Kilwinning, attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge St Andrew No.126 where the RWM Bro. Andrew Hamilton presided over the Initiation of two new Entered Apprentices.

On 5 May 2011, SPGM Drew Rankine headed the PGLA Deputation into Lodge Dalry Blair No.290 for the annual visitation. The Deputation was welcomed into the Lodge by RWM Brother Colin Dun. After a first degree on one candidate, Dalry Blair were granted a clear minute.

On 29 March 2011, Lodge Burns Dundonald No.1759 held a Fellowcraft Degree conferred by Founder Members. Included in the conferring team was RWPGM Brother Archibald Chalmers (WSW), DPGM Brother Robert Little (WJW), PPGM Brother Adam Cunningham (RWM), and SPGM Brother Samuel Peden (SD).

On Monday 28 March 2011, RWPGM Brother Archibald Chalmers headed a Deputation from PGLA into Lodge Wallace St. Hugh Crosshill No.1212.  RWM Brother William Fisher welcomed the Deputation into the Lodge when a Fellowcraft Degree was conferred on one candidate, thereafter the RWPGM granted Lodge 1212 a clear minute.

On Saturday 26 March 2011 the RWPGM and PG Secretary represented PGLA at the Installation of MEC Gordon C. Booth (PM 51) as the new Grand Superintendent of the PG Royal Arch Chapter of Ayrshire. The meeting was held within Lodge Thistle and Rose No.169 and presided over by the First Grand Principal of The Supreme Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Scotland, MEC John Alexander Fraser (PPGM of Ross and Cromarty). At the dinner following, the PGM replied to the Toast to PGL. The "unity" of the two Orders was further cemented today.
The RWPGM accompanied by SPGM Brother Sam Peden, attended a special Meeting of Lodge St David (Tarbolton) Mauchline No.133 on Friday 18 March 2011. RWM Brother Jim Walker presided over an excellent working of the FC Degree conferred by the Reigning Masters of the former No.5 NCB Area. (133 Mauchline, 201 Muirkirk, 230 Cumnock, 334 New Cumnock, 497 Catrine and 1011 Auchinleck). The RWM of Lodge Mother Kilwinning, Brother John Duncan, was also in attendance.
On Wednesday 9 March 2011 the RWPGM attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Montgomerie Kilwinning No.624. The RWM of the Lodge Brother William McClarty presided over an excellent working of the Master Mason Degree upon one candidate. Brother James "Corkie" McCorkell, MM of Lodge Crawfordsburn No.1121 was made an Honorary Member. The RWM's of Lodge St John (Kilwinning) No.173 and Lodge Crawfordsburn were also in attendance (left picture).
IPM Brother Colin Cruickshanks welcomed a Deputation from PGLA into Lodge Coila St. Andrew No.1334 on 7 March 2011 for the Annual Visitation. The Deputation was headed by RWPGM Brother Archibald Chalmers. The visit was enjoyed by all and Lodge Coila were granted a clear minute.
On Saturday evening of 5 March 2011 the RWPGM attended the Annual Burns Supper of Lodge Dunlop Caledonia No.1408 held in Dunlop Community Hall. The Immortal Memory was delivered by Brother Rev Ian U. Macdonald. A most enjoyable evening indeed, well Chaired by RWM Brother James Reid.
On 4 March 2011, Right Worshipful Master Brother James Lyle, welcomed a Deputation from PGLA into Lodge St. John (Kilwinning) Kilmarnock No.22 for the Annual Visitation.  The Deputation was headed by Substitute Provincial Grand Master Brother William Steel, who gave Lodge No. 22 a clear minute.
On 2 March, RWM Brother Liam Stewart welcomed DPGM Brother Robert Little and PGM Kilwinning Brother David Bloomfield into Lodge St. Peter Galston, No. 331. A large Deputation from The Mother Lodge of Scotland headed by RWM Brother John Duncan was then welcomed into the Lodge and carried out a first degree.
The RWPGM Brother Archibald Chalmers visited Lodge Royal Arch No.198 on Tuesday 1 March 2011. The Lodge held a Special Meeting to Initiate a gentleman into the Order. The Degree was first class with the team headed by the RWM Brother Andrew Wilson Muir. The RWM of Lodge St John No.11, Brother Hugh Mundell was also present.
On 24 February 2011 RWM Bro. Angus Gorman welcomed a Deputation from PGLA into Lodge Stinchar Valley No.1705 for the Annual Visitation. The Deputation was headed by SPGM Bro. Samuel Peden. The Lodge was granted a clear minute and at the close of the meeting a mini Burns Supper was held. Paul Parker addressed the Haggis, David Murray proposed the Immortal Memory and William Agnew gave 2 readings.
Along with a Deputation from PGL, the RWPGM visited Lodge Burns Dundonald No.1759. RWPGM Bro. Archie gave a fine lecture on the life of Bro. Sir Alexander Fleming PM. Following on from this he assisted the RWM Bro. James Picken to present a cheque to Colonel Fairweather who is the main fund raiser for Combat Stress at Hollybush House. Bro. Colin McCormick PM also spoke on the fine work done by Combat Stress at Hollybush House and urged the Brethren to keep them in their thoughts for future charitable donations.
On 17 February 2011RWM Brother Darrell Thomson of Lodge Troon Navigation No. 86 welcomed a Deputation from Provincial Grand Lodge into the Lodge for the Annual Visitation. The Deputation was headed by Depute Provincial Grand Master Brother Robert Little who granted the Lodge a clear minute.
On 26 February 2011, RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers paid a visit to Lodge St. Peter No.331 in Galston. After being welcomed by RWM Bro. Liam Stewart and completion of the business,  a third degree was conferred on one candidate by Bro. William Stewart PM (Grandfather), Bro. Robert Stewart PM(Father) and RWM Bro. Liam Stewart (Son / Grandson).
The Quarterly Communication of PGLA was held within the premises of Lodge Troon Navigation No.86 on 11 February 2011. Following the usual business the RWPGM invested Bro. William Haggerty with his neck jewel as Honorary Grand Architect. WSW of Lodge St Barnabas No.230 was congratulated on his work in India with under privileged children whilst the Golf trophy was presented to WSW Bro. Ian Davidson of Lodge St. James (Kilwinning) Tarbolton No.135.
On 9 February 2011, RWM Bro. Andrew Main of Lodge Ayr St. Paul No.204 welcomed a Deputation from PGLA into the Lodge.  SPGM Bro. Samuel Peden headed he Deputation and after witnessing a second degree, gave 204 a clear minute and then presented Bro. Stephen Cosh with his Master Mason certificate.
On 2 February 2011 the fist of the Annual Visitations took place at Lodge St. Peter Galston No.331. The RWM Bro. Liam Stewart welcomed a Deputation from PGLA which was headed by SPGM Bro. Drew Rankine. After a second degree was completed the PGLA business was carried out and Lodge St. Peter was given a clear minute. Bro Daniel Williamson  was then presented with his 50 year diploma by SPGM Bro. Drew Rankine, after his brother Roger had addressed him.
On 28 January, DPGM Brother Robert Little headed a Deputation into Lodge St. Matthew Kilwinning Dreghorn No. 549.  The Deputation was welcomed by IPM Brother John Irvine. After witnessing a first degree, DPGM Brother Robert Little presented a 50 year diploma to Brother George Young.
Lodge Darvel No. 971 were recently visited by Lodge Loudoun (Kil) Newmilns No. 51 who conferred a Fellowcraft degree. On the evening Brother Alistair Whitehead affiliated to Lodge Darvel from a Lodge in the north of Scotland. Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Brother Archibald Chalmers had the pleasure of presenting Brother Harry Harris PM with a 50 year certificate. PM Brother Harry gave an emotional reply from the afterwards. The Brethren then spent some time in harmony with Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master.
On Thursday 13 January 2011 the Depute Provincial Grand Master Brother Robert Little, attended Lodge Dunlop Caledonia No.1408 to present Brother Matthew Brown, the Lodge Substitute Master, with his Jubilee Certificate in recognition of his 50 years membership of the Craft. RWM Brother James W. Reid presiding.

On Wednesday 12 January 2011,RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers accompanied by WPGSW Bro. Duncan Fenwick and PGL SD Bro. Stuart Muirhead, went along to Patna and visited Lodge The Bonnie Doon No.565. The Deputation was warmly welcomed by RWM Bro. David Dick and the assembled Brethren. After the business of the evening, the RWM invited the RWPGM to present a Distinguished Service Diploma to Bro. Andy Roney PM. Bro. Roney was installed as RWM of 565 fifty years ago and has served his Lodge and the Craft faithfully ever since. (Pictures courtesy of Bro. Stuart Muirhead PGL SD)
On Tuesday 11 January 2011 the RWPGM accompanied Brother James W. Miller PM Lodge CrawfordsburnNo.1121 and RWPGM of Renfrewshire West, into Lodge Thistle and Rose No.169. Brother Daniel McNeill MM of Lodge Crawfordsburn No.1121, was presented with his Jubilee Certificate in recognition of his 65 years membership of the Craft. RWM Brother Stuart Gray presided over a first class MM Degree.
On Tuesday 4 January 2011 the RWPGM attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge St Clement Riccarton (Kilwinning) Kilmarnock No.202 when RWM Brother David McClurkin presided over a Second Degree. The RWPGM had the pleasure of having the company of Brother John S. Brockie the RWPGM of Perthshire West on this occasion.
On 30 December 2010, RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers visited Lodge St. John New Cumnock No.334. After welcoming the RWPGM and completing the business, IPM Bro. William Struthers welcomed a Deputation from Lodge Sanquhar (Kilwinning) No.194 into the Lodge. The Deputation was headed by RWM Bro. Alexander McBride. 194 then conferred a second degree. Also visiting 334 was RWM Bro. Alexander Hamilton of Lodge St. Bryde No. 579 ( DoC PGL Lanarkshire Middle Ward).
On 29 December 2010 RWPGM Brother Archibald Chalmers and DPGM Brother Robert Little visited Lodge St. Andrew No.126. After welcoming the Deputation from PGLA and the business, RWM Brother Andrew Hamilton conducted the Annual Remembrance Service for the Brethren of the Lodge who had passed to the Grand Lodge above during the last 12 months.
On 27 December 2010 the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Brother Archibald Chalmers visited Lodge St. James Newton-upon-Ayr No.125. Right Worshipful Master Brother Sam Wales welcomed the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master into the Lodge and then conferred a second degree.

On Wednesday 22 December 2010 the RWPGM paid a visit to Lodge Royal Blues No.399 when RWM Bro. David McMurdo presided over a Business Only meeting followed by a Quiz Night. The RWM of Lodge Beith St John's Kilwinning No.157. Bro. David Stevenson, was also present.

On Thursday 23 December 2010 the RWPGM paid a visit to Lodge St Marnock No.109 when RWM Bro. Ian Johnstone, presided over a Business Only Meeting followed by a Games NIght.

On 20 December 2010, RWPGM Brother Archibald Chalmers visited Lodge Coila St. Andrew No.1334. Due to Weather conditions the previous meeting was cancelled therefore this was the first meeting for RWM Brother William Andrew and his Office Bearers.The RWPGM Bro. Archie Chalmers attended the Regular Meeting of his Mother Lodge, Thistle No.127, on Tuesday 21 December 2010, RWM Bro. Roderick J. Murray presiding. The RWM of Lodge Dunlop Caledonia No.1408, Bro. James Reid was also in attendance.
On Thursday 16 December 2010 the RWPGM attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Irvine St Andrew No.149. RWM Bro. Ian Gunnion welcomed a Deputation from Lodge Thistle and Rose No.169, headed by RWM Bro. Stewart Grey, who conferred a Fellowcraft Degree. The Deputation from PGL included Bro, Ian McBreen JPGW and Bro. William Haggarty Past PSGW.
On Tuesday 30 November 2010 the RWPGM attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Thistle and Rose No.169. On that occasion he entered the Lodge accompanied by the District Grand Prior of Ayrshire, Brother John M. Turner (PM 128). The purpose of the visit was to personally thank RWM Brother Stuart Gray and the Brethren of the Lodge for hosting the Centenary celebrations of the District Grand Priory on Sat 27 Nov. 2010. On Saturday 27 November 2010 the RWPGM and PG Secretary represented the PGL of Ayrshire at the Centenary Celebrations of The District Grand Priory of Ayrshire held within the Masonic Premises of Lodge Thistle and Rose No.169 Both warmly welcomed by the District Grand Prior John M. Turner. The Ceremony of Re-Dedication was conducted by the Grand Master of The Great Priory of Scotland, David A.C. Niven. At the conclusion of the Ceremony the PGM presented, in the name of the PGL of Ayrshire, a Ceremonial Sword and Stand to mark the occasion and of the bond between the two Orders.

On 1 December 2010 RWPGM Brother Archibald Chalmers was welcomed into Lodge St. John, Catrine No. 497 by RWM Brother Alex Tanner. The purpose of the visit was for the PGM to deliver his talk on Sir Alexander Fleming.
On 29 November, RWM Brother William Fisher of Lodge Wallace St. Hugh No. 1212, Crosshill, welcomed RWPGM Brother Archibald Chalmers into the Lodge. A first degree was conferred on one candidate and a short time was spent in harmony with the Brethren.
On 18 November, Lodge Fergusson St. James No. 566 held a 3rd degree conferred by the Installing Masters (RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers and Bro Thomas Wason PM 566) assisted by the Office Bearers. After the degree RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers, Bro. Joseph Galt Baird and Bro. Desy McCormick were made Honorary Members of 566.

On Sunday 15 November 2010 the RWPGM, Bro. Archibald Chalmers, attended the Armistice Day Service of East Ayrshire Council at the War Memorial, Kilmarnock. He was accompanied by SPGM Bro. William Raeside and PSPG Warden Bro. Hugh Paton (PM 202). The four reigning Masters of the Kilmarnock Lodges were also in attendance namely, Bro. Paul Parker RWM No.22, Bro. Ian Johnstone RWM No.109, Bro. Andrew Hamilton RWM No.126 and Bro. Ian Steel RWM No. 202. Bro. Steel laid the wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of the Freemasons of Kilmarnock. The RWPGM invited Brother Hugh Paton (a sprightly 89 years old) to lay the wreath on behalf of PGL in recognition of his service during World War II in the Durham Light Infantry. The Kilmarnock Masonic Social Club provided some much needed warmth, in the form of hot soup, tea and coffee, after the Service.

In the afternoon of 14 November the RWPGM and DPGM attended the Remembrance Day Service at Cumnock War Memorial. The RWPGM accompanied RWM Bro. Milton Fleming when he laid a wreath on behalf of Lodge St Barnabas No.230 at the Memorial. The Lodge had recently had a Memorial erected within the Cemetery to commemorate the Brethren of the Lodge who had made the Supreme Sacrifice in times of War. The photograph attached is the RWM and RWPGM standing beside the new memorial. On Sunday evening a Deputation of ten members of PGL attended the Annual Divine service of Lodge Prestwick No.1060 held within Kingcase Parish Church.

On 11 November the RWPGM assisted by PPGM Bro. Adam Cunningham visited Lodge Troon Navigation No. 86 where after being welcomed by RWM Bro. Thomas Fergusson, and witnessing a first degree, presented RWM Thomas Fergusson with a 50 year diploma.

On 10 November 2010 Lodge Ayr St. Paul No. 204 held their AGM. This was an exceptionally well attended AGM with visitors from many Lodges. The reason for the high attendance was the Presentation by RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers of a 60 year diploma to Bro. Thomas Main PM. During the presentation DPGM Bro. Robert Little acted as WSW, SPGM Drew Rankine as WJW and PPGM Adam Cunningham as DoC. The night was enjoyed by all present.

The Provincial Grand Lodge of Ayrshire held the Annual Communication within the premises of Lodge Neptune Kilwinning No. 442 in Saltcoats on 29 October 2010 with RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers presiding. After conducting the business the RWPGM handed over to RWPGM Bro. James Miller of Renfrewshire West and SPGM Bro. Drew Rankine who installed the Office-bearers for the next term. The election of members to PGL committee was also conducted with RWM Bro. William Cuthbert Lodge St John No. 11, Bro. Roddy McLean PM Lodge Thistle No. 127 and RWM Bro. George Reid Lodge Thistle and Rose No. 169 all being elected for the first time. Bro. James Sturgeon was thanked for his 10 years of service as PGL Treasurer and Bro. William Haggarty was then presented with his PWPGSW jewel. Lodge Neptune were thanked for their hospitality and the supper provided.
RWM Bro. William Lennox welcome a large amount of Brethren in to Lodge St David (Tarbolton) Mauchline No. 133 on 26 Oct 10. A Deputation from PGLA arrived headed by the RWPGM Bro. Archie Chalmers to see RWM Bro. William's Last night on the chair of his Mother Lodge. The RWM conducted a FC degree on substitute candidate Bro. Borland from Lodge St James (Kil) Tarbolton No. 135. One of his last acts as RWM was to confer honorary membership on Bro. Colin McCormick PM No. 135.

On 25 October, SPGM Bro. William Steel headed a PGLA Deputation into Lodge St. John  Royal Arch. Ardrossan, No. 320 for the Annual Visitation. Included in the Deputation was RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers. RWM Bro. Samuel Innes welcomed the deputation and after completing the business, which included a Masonic lecture, handed the mallet to SPGM Bro. William Steel to carry out the PGLA business, during which 320 were granted a clear minute.

On 23 October Lodge Neptune, Saltcoats, No. 442 celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Consecration of their Temple. RWM Bro. John Taylor welcomed the Deputation from PGLA which was headed by RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers. The Ceremony was conducted by PGLA Chaplain Bro. Rev Ian U. Macdonald assisted by PGL Director of Ceremonies Bro. Ian McBreen.

On 21 October SPGM Bro. Samuel Peden headed a Deputation into Lodge Beith St. John No. 157 for the purpose of the annual visitation. Also in the Deputation was RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers. RWM Bro. John Stiratt welcomed the Deputation into the Lodge and at the end of the meeting thanked SPGM Bro. Sam Peden for the clear minute.

On 20 October RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers visited Lodge St. Peter Galston No. 331 and thanked RWM Bro. Steven Boylan and Lodge 331 for hosting the visit by the Grand Master Mason on 22 of May, a photograph of the MWGMM was also presented to the Lodge.

On 19 October, DPGM Bro. Robert Little headed a Deputation from PGLA into Lodge St. John (Kilwinning) Largs No 173. RWM Bro. Sandy Connor welcomed the Deputation into the Lodge and after completing the business, a first degree was conferred on Neil Menzies. DPGM Bro. Robert Little then conducted the visitation and granted 173 a clear minute. Robert Little was then presented with his prize as winner of visitors prize in the Lodge Golf competition.

On 16 October 2010, Lodge Burns Dundonald No. 1759 celebrated the 25th Anniversary of their founding. RWM Bro. James Picken welcomed a large Deputation from PGLA headed by RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers. Included in the Deputation were RWPGM Bro. David Bloomfield, PGL Kilwinning, RWPGM Bro. David Reid, PGL Renfrewshire East, RWPGM Bro. Thomas Leckenby PGL Dunbartonshire and PPGM Bro. Angus McInnes. The ceremony was conducted by PGLA Chaplain Bro. Rev Ian U. Macdonald assisted by PGLA DoC Bro. Ian McBreen. A meal,  speeches and Harmony followed the ceremony.

RWM Bro. William Lindsay welcomed a large Deputation from PGLA, headed by SPGM bro. Drew CY Rankine, in to Lodge St James (Kil) Tarbolton No. 135 on 15 Oct 10. A deputation was also received from Palliser District Grand Lodge headed by RW Bro. Ken Montgomery DDGM. The Brethren were treated to a FC degree which was followed by the PGLA annual report. SPGM Bro. Drew awarded Lodge 135 a clear minute.

Substitute Provincial Grand Master Bro. Sam Peden led a Deputation from PGL to Lodge Royal Arch, West Kilbride No. 314 on 12 October 201, Right Worshipful Master Bro. William Houston welcomed the Deputation in to his Mother Lodge for the purpose of the Annual Visitation. Substitute Provincial Grand Master Bro. Sam granted Lodge 314 a clear minute.

On 29 September, RWM of Lodge St. Thomas, No. 201 Bro. Gordon McCulloch first welcomed RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers and then a Deputation from Lodge St. John 334, headed by RWM Bro. Martin Merrivale into the Lodge. A second degree was then conferred on one substitute candidate with the PGM acting as Junior Deacon. Bro Norman Pile PM 1334 was made an Honorary Member of 201.

On 28 September 2010, RWPGM Brother Archibald Chalmers and SPGM Brother Samuel Peden visited Lodge Burns Dundonald 1759. After welcoming the Provincial Deputation RWM Brother James Picken welcomed a Deputation from Lodge Thistle 127, headed by RWM Brother Derek Fulton. A second degree was then conferred by the Brethren of 127.

The regular meeting of Lodge St James Newton-upon-Ayr No. 125 was held on Monday 27 September. RWM Bro. Jack Heathcote, after welcoming the Brethren many visitors, received a Deputation from PGLA. The deputation comprised RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers, WPSGW Bro. William Haggarty and the WPVPoS Br. J. Stewart Cruickshank, who were paying a courtesy visit. After completing the business, RWM Bro. Heathcote and the assembled Brethren afforded a warm welcome to a large Deputation of  our good friends from Lodge Prestwick 1060 headed by their Depute Master Bro.Jim Miller PM Bro. Miller and the Office-Bearers of  1060 proceeded to advance Bro. Edward Flynn to the rank of MMM in a most exemplary manner and to the entire satisfaction of the assembled Brethren. On 24 Sep 2010, the RWPGM paid a visit to Lodge St James (Kil) Tarbolton No. 135, where almost a hundred Brethren witnessed a First Degree on 2 candidates conferred by DM Bro. James Davidson. The evening was further enhanced by a large visiting Deputation from the Danish Constitution headed by Bro. Peder D NiElsen HM 135. The RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers presented the Lodge with a signed picture of the Most Worshipful Grand Master Mason Bro. Charles Ian Robert Wolrige Gordon of Esslemont in appreciation of the hospitality shown to GLS and PGLA on the occasion of his visit to Ayrshire on 22 May 2010.

On Thursday 23rd September 2010 the RWPGM headed a large Deputation from PGL into Lodge Darvel No.971. Also in the Deputation were Brother John S Brockie RWPGM and Brother Roger Bullard, PGDoC, both of the PGL of Perthshire West. RWM Brother William Pollock welcomed the Deputation into the Lodge and thereafter an enjoyable evening was spent.


On Wednesday 22 September 2010 the RWPGM Brother Archibald Chalmers attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Irvine Newtown No.1662. RWM Brother Thomas Nugent presided over a very well delivered MM Degree.

DPGM Bro. Robert Little headed the deputation from PGLA into Lodge Neptune Kilwinning No. 442 on 16h September for the annual visitation. RWM Bro. John Taylor welcomed the Deputation into the Lodge and then completed his business. After DPGM Bro. Robert Little took over the Lodge, RWPGM Bro. On Wednesday 15 September 2010 the RWPGM headed the Annual Visitation to Lodge St John No.497 in Catrine. RWM Brother John Welsh, Jnr, presided over a FCD thereafter the RWPGM conducted the business of PGL which resulted in the Lodge being granted a Clear Minute. (Bottom centre)

On 14 September, SPGM Bro. William Raeside headed the PGLA Deputation to Lodge Thistle and Rose, Stivenstoune No 169 for the annual visitation. After being welcomed by RWM Bro. George Reid, SPGM Bro. William Raeside presented a 50 Year Diploma to Bro. John Brown. After a second degree, Lodge 169 was given a clear minute. (Bottom left)

On Monday 13 September 2010 the RWPGM attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Wallace St Hugh No.1212. RWM Bro. Scott Pike presided over a FC Degree. The RWPGM had the pleasure of presenting brothers Brother Thomas Robb PM and Brother John Robb PM, with their Jubilee Certificates on behalf of Grand Lodge. The evening was further enhanced by the acting DoC being Brother Derek Robb PM, who is the son of Brother Thomas.

On the same night, SPGM Bro. Sam Peden led a Deputation into Lodge St. James Newton-upon-Ayr No. 125. It was the first meeting after the recess and was the occasion of the annual visit by PGL. The Deputation, which was warmly welcomed by RWM Bro. Jack Heathcote and the assembled Brethren, witnessed Bro. Edward Flynn being raised to the sublime degree. RWM Heathcote then presented the emblem to The SPGM who gave his report and granted Lodge. St. James a clear minute.

The Annual Visitation of the PGLA to Lodge Burns St. Mary Hurlford No.505 took place on the 7 September 2010. RWM Bro. Derek Smith welcomed the PGLA Deputation headed by RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers into the Lodge. After the business of the Lodge was completed PGL Secretary Bro. Robert Stewart and the RWPGM presented a 50 year diploma to PM Bro. James Barclay. The Lodge was then granted a clear minute.

At Tarbolton Parish Church on 5 September 2010, a special service was held to commemorate Bro. Rev Iain U. Macdonald having served 50 years as an Ordained Minister. The service was marked by the attendance of RWPGM Bro. Archie Chalmers, PPGM Bro. Adam Cunningham and RWM Bro. William Lindsay of Bro. Iain's Mother Lodge, St James (Kilwinning) Tarbolton No. 135.

On 4 September 2010, a Deputation from PGLA attended Lodge St. John (Kilwinning) Largs, No 173 for the purpose of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Temple. RWM Bro. Alexander Connor welcomed the Deputation headed by RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers into the Lodge. The RWPGM, PGLA Chaplain Bro. Ian Benzies, and DoC Bro. Derek Welsh carried out the re-dedication ceremony.

On 2 September 2010, SPGM Bro William Steel headed a Deputation from PGLA into Lodge St. Marnock No. 109 for the annual visitation. After being welcomed into the Lodge by RWM Bro Iain Johnston and witnessing a Fellowcraft degree, the Lodge was granted a clear minute.

On 26 August RWM Bro. Angus Gorman welcomed a large number of visitors into Lodge Stinchar Valley No.1705. Bro. Adam Cunningham, acting DoC for the night, introduced a Provincial Deputation consisting of RWPGM of Ayrshire Bro. Archibald Chalmers, RWPGM of Lanarkshire Middle Ward Bro. James L. Jack and Provincial Grand Secretary of Lanarkshire Middle Ward Bro. William Craig, into the Lodge. After the completion of the business of the Lodge was completed, RWPGM Bro. James Jack delivered a talk on the Battle of Gettysburg and the Masons who fought there. The talk was well received by all present.

RWPGM Brother Archibald Chalmers visited Lodge St John RA No 320 on 23 August and witnessed a Mark Degree. RWM Brother Sam Innes also welcomed DPGM Brother Robert Little, PG Secy. Brother Robert Stewart and other PGLA Office Bearers into the Lodge. Provincial Grand Secretary Brother Robert Stewart presented Brother Ian McQuillan with a certificate for completing the Ayrshire Visiting Passport.

On 5 August 2010, RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers headed a Deputation from PGLA into Lodge Neptune Kilwinning No.442 for an informal visit.  Right Worshipful Master Bro. John Taylor gave the Deputation a warm welcome. The first degree was conferred on one candidate. Thereafter the large attendance were treated to some fine hospitality and harmony in the 442 Social club.

The Regular QC of PGL was held within Dalmellington Community Centre on Wednesday 30 June 2010, hosted by Lodge St Thomas Kilwinning No. 433. A large Deputation from Sister PG Lodges was headed by RWPGM Bro. Jim Smithers of the PGL of Galloway. The Adam Pettigrew Cup was presented to Lodge Beith St John No.157 in recognition of the Lodges donation to the Sponsored walk. The 549 Quaich was presented to Lodge St John RA No.320 in recognition of their contribution via the Penny a Day Fund. Brother Andrew Letham, PM 156, was presented with a Certificate acknowledging his completion of the PGL Visitors Passport. The PGM had much pleasure in Conferring the rank of Honorary PG Tyler on Brother Robert Calderwood of Lodge St Thomas Kilwinning No.433 in recognition of his 25th anniversary of being installed as Lodge Tyler, an office which his father and grandfather had held before him. These three brethren had held the post for 77 consecutive years, so far. At the close of the meeting the brethren enjoyed Lodge hospitality in the Lodge premises. A very well attended Communication and our thanks go to the host Lodge for everything that they arranged on behalf of PGL.

On Thursday 1 July 2010 the RWPGM accompanied by SPGM Brother Sam Peden joined a Deputation from Lodge St Thomas Kilwinning No.433, headed by RWM Brother John Haynes, to the opening of a new Garden within the Craigengillan Estate to commemorate the Centenary of the 33rd Ayrshire Scout Group (Dalmellington). The Lodge had provided a beautiful sundial which was the centre-piece of the garden. The Provost of South Ayrshire, Winifred Sloan, was in attendance. Congratulations must go to the Lodge for their continued involvement within their community.

On Monday 28 June 2010 the RWPGM attended Lodge St John RA No.320for the purpose of presenting Brother William Hail MM, with his 60 year Membership Diploma. RWM Brother Sam Innes presided over the meeting. The PGM was accompanied by his PGL Wardens.

On Friday 25 June 2010 the RWPGM attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Thistle and Rose No.169. RWM Bro. George Reid presiding. The EA Degree was conferred on one candidate by RWM Bro. Jim Dempster and Brethren from Lodge Irvine St Andrew No.149. During the meeting the PGM presented a 60 Year Membership Diploma to Bro. Peter Howie MM via his grand-nephew Bro. Calum McKenzie. Brother Howie presently lives in Canada. The Deputation from PGL, which also included SPGM Bro. Sam Peden, was headed by PGSW Bro. William Haggarty, PM 149/HM169.
On 14 June, RWM Brother Sandy Connor welcomed a Deputation from PGLA into Lodge St. John (Kilwinning) Largs No.173. The Deputation was headed by DPGM Brother Robert Little with RWPGM Brother Archibald Chalmers also in the Deputation. The Mark Degree was conferred on 4 candidates.
On Thursday 10 June 2010 Brother William Pettigrew, PM Lodge St Thomas Kilwinning Dalmellington No.433, attended The Grand Lodge of Scotland's Regular Communication in his new capacity of Member of the Board of Grand Stewards representing the Province of Ayrshire. Brother Pettigrew joins Brother Stuart Muirhead PM Lodge St James Newton-upon-Ayr No.125 and Brother Robert Stewart, PM Lodge St Peter No.331. There was a good representation from his Mother Lodge to wish him well in this new phase of his Masonic Career. Our usually camera-shy RWPGM joined in the photo shoot.
On 4 June, RWM Bro. Paul Parker, welcomed a deputation from PGLA, headed by DPGM Bro. Robert Little into Lodge St. John (Kil) Kilmarnock No. 22. A third degree was conferred on one candidate by Honorary Members of 22. This was a special night for the RWM as his son Ross was the candidate.
The RWPGM paid an informal visit to Lodge St John No.334 on Thursday 27 May 2010, RWM Brother Martin Merrivale in the Chair. It was a Business Only meeting followed by a Games Night.

On 3 June RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers visited Lodge Neptune Kilwinning No. 442. After welcoming the deputation from PGLA RWM Bro. John Taylor welcomed a deputation from Lodge St John (Kilwinning) Largs No. 173 into the Lodge. RWM Bro. Sandy Connor and his conferring team, carried out a second degree.

The RWPGM Bro Archie Chalmers accompanied by Bro Stewart Cruickshank PM, attended the last meeting before recess of Lodge St David (Tarbolton) Mauchline No 133 on 25 May 2010. WJW Bro Jack Fleming conferred an excellent Fellowcraft degree. RWM Bro Colin Brotherton of Lodge Fergusson St James No 566 spoke on behalf of the visitors and praised the WJW for his very fine efforts. RWM Bro William Lennox thanked all Office-Bearers and Brethren for their support over the last few months and wished them well over the summer holiday period. Following the meeting the RWPGM was on hand to sign copies of the recently launched book of extracts from the minutes of PGL.
On Tuesday 18 May 2010 the RWPGM, accompanied by DPGM Bro. R Little and SPGM Bro. W Raeside, attended the Half-Yearly Convocation of the PG RA Chapter of Ayrshire at Stevenston. As usual the G Supt MEC James Hodge made the Deputation most welcome. At the close of the meeting the Deputation was invited to retire with the members of Supreme Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Scotland.
On Thursday 20 May 2010 the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Brother Archie Chalmers, attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Irvine St Andrew No.149 and took part in a Fellowcraft Degree conferred by six Honorary Members. The Right Worshipful Master Brother Jim Dempster presiding. The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master also presented Brother Andrew Richmond with his 50 year membership Diploma.
