The PGM, accompanied by PG Secretary, attended the Installation of V. Em. Fr. John M. Turner as the new District Grand Prior of Ayrshire on Saturday 30th January 2010. The meeting was held in the Walker Hall, Troon and was conducted by the Grand Master of the Order, the Most Em. & Rev'd David A. C. Niven. The PGM replied on behalf of "The Guests" at the meal that followed. On Tuesday night, 19th January 2010, the RWPGM attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Greenock Kilwinning No.XII. the Meeting was held in the Saloon of Greenock Town Hall and was presided over by the RWM, Brother Arthur Young. RWPGM Brother James W. Miller was made an Honorary Member of the Lodge thereafter the RWM delivered a Talk on the Songs of Robert Burns, during which he sung the several songs that he referred to. On 6th January RWPGM Archibald Chalmers paid a visit to Lodge Georgetown No. 1170 in the Province of Renfrewshire East. RWM John Watson had arranged for a second degree to be conferred by a team of Recycled Masters from the province plus 1 PM and a PM from Ayrshire. Also present were the RWPGM of Renfrewshire East Bro David Reid and 2 of his SPGM's Andrew Hosie and neil Fraser. There was a large attendance of brethern. |

| The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master was invited to attend the Regular Communication of the Province of Dunbartonshire and to Head the Deputation from Sister Provinces, on Saturday 31 October 2009. The Meeting was held within the beautiful premises of Dumbarton Kilwinning No.18. Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Brother Thomas K. Leckenby presided over a very well run Communication which culminated in the Immediate Past Grand Master Mason, Brother Sir Archibald Donald Orr Ewing Bart., being admitted as an Honorary Member of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Dunbartonshire. At the close of the Meeting the Annual Dinner of the Masters and Past Masters Association took place with the President, Brother John F. Herrick, welcoming Brother Sir Archibald Donald Orr Ewing Bart. as the Guest Speaker. His subject was the Family connection with Dunbartonshire which was most interesting. On Saturday 17 October, RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers attended the Annual Installation of Lodge Thistle and Crown No. 1167. RWM Bro. Ian Brenchley was installed into the chair for the 3rd time. On Monday 12 October 2009 the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master, Provincial Grand Secretary Brother Robert Stewart and Worshipful Senior Warden of Lodge St Peter No.331, Brother Liam Stewart, ventured into Renfrewshire West to the Dedication of the newly rebuilt Masonic premises of Lodge Firth of Clyde No.626 in Gourock. The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Brother James Livingstone welcomed the Brethren into the Province particularly Brother Liam who was officiating at the Organ for the Dedication Service. At the close of the meeting the Right Worshipful Master Brother Norman Henderson expressed his grateful thanks for the assistance from Brother Liam.

On 18 Sep Bro. Stewart Cruickshank attended Lodge The Lodge Hope of Kurrachie No 337.The Royal Stuart Lodge No 1414 led by RWM Bro. Gavin Train visited the Lodge. The purpose of the visit was to demonstrate a degree based on the Graham Manuscript. This was researched and written by PPGM Bro. Frank Johnstone. RWPGM Bro. Tomas Bradley headed a large Deputation from the Province of Fife and Kinross, and SPGM Bro. Ian Waugh carried out the annual visitation.At the harmony after the meeting, there was a question and answer session. |
On 4 September at The Anchor Lodge of Research No.1814, RWM Bro. Alex Galbraith welcomed PGL Secretary Bro. Robert Stewart into the Lodge. Bro. Robert then delivered his talk on American Freemasonry. Also present was the Lodge Depute Master AKA RWPGM of Ayrshire Bro. Archibald Chalmers. The talk was very well received and during the harmony, Bro. Robert answered questions.

On 29 August RWPGM Archibald Chalmers visited Lodge Moorpark Renfrew No.1263 where the RWPGM of Renfrewshire East Bro David A. Reid and members of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Renfrewshire East, conducted a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the building of Moorpark’s Temple. After the meeting a meal, speeches and harmony were enjoyed by all present.

On 20 June, RWPGM Archibald Chalmers attended the 50th Anniversary of Lodge Douglas, East Kilbride No. 1557 with RWM Bro. James Lennox presiding. The Celebration was carried out by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Renfrewshire East. RWPGM Bro. David A Reid was in the chair. Also present were PGMs Bro. David Bloomfield (Kilwinning), Bro. Tom Leckenby (Dunbartonshire) and heading the Deputation was RWPGM Bro. James Miller (Renfrewshire West), also attending were Brethren from England and Germany. New regalia was also dedicated.

Archie Chalmers attended the 75th Anniversary and Re-Dedication Meeting of Lodge The Kings Park No.1386, Castlemilk Halls, Carmunnock, Renfrewshire East, on Wednesday 27 May 2009. Although a Past Master of the Lodge the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Brother David Reid invited him to attend as the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master of Ayrshire. The Ceremony was conducted in full by the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master and his Commissioned Office-bearers with the RWM of the Lodge, Bro. James McGrouther, representing the Brethren where necessary. |
On Sunday 24 May 2009 the RWPGM, accompanied by the DPGM Brother Robert Little, attended the first Divine Service of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Fife and Kinross held in St Serf's Parish Church, Lochgelly. The RWPGM Brother Tom Bradley extended a warm welcome to the many Brethren present and thanked them for their support. The Service was conducted by Brother Reverend Andrew E. Paterson, SPGM, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the entire Congregation. The hospitality of the PGL was equally enjoyed when we retired to Lodge Minto No. 385. RWPGM Brother Archie Chalmers gave a Vote of Thanks to the PGM and the PGL for a memorable day. |

On Thursday 21 May 2009 the RWPGM attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Thistle and Crown No.1167 Neilston, Renfrewshire East. RWM Bro.
Ian Brenchley welcomed the PGM (an Hon Mem of 1167) accompanied by the Depute PGM of Renfrewshire East, Bro. John S. Miller, into the Lodge and invited the PGM to address the brethren. The PGM delivered two short Addresses both emphasising the way we ought to behave both in the Lodge and out with it "Tae see oorsel's as ithers see us!!" Also present were the RWM's of No.275 Bro. Robert Hunt and No.1408 Bro. Fraser Craig. The Lodge presented the PGM with a Cheque for £25 for the PGL Funds which was appreciated. |

On 18 May, RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers headed a Deputation from Ayrshire to Lodge Old St. John No. 21. The Deputation from Ayrshire joined with a Deputation from Lanarkshire Upper Ward and the overall Deputation was headed by RWPGM Bro. Thomas Millar. The Ayrshire Deputation included DPGM Bro. Robert Little, SPGM Bro. William Steel, PGSec. Bro. Robert Stewart and Bro. Stewart Cruickshank. Bro. Robert Stewart delivered a lecture on American Freemasonry. At the end of the lecture, the Brethren showed their appreciation to Robert. |
On 15 May, RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers accompanied by DPGM Bro. Robert Little , PGL Secretary Bro. Robert Stewart and Bro. Stewart Cruickshank, attended the Annual Past Masters Dinner at Nethan St John No 1289. After a warm welcome, Robert Stewart, ably assisted by the PGM, delivered his lecture on American Freemasonry. After the lecture, and a wonderful buffet, Robert was presented with a gift.

Lodge Pioneer No.1305 in Linlithgow, on Friday 17 April. The RWPGM
presented a Paper -- Sir Alexander Fleming, Discoverer of Penicillin. The
evening was also the Annual Visitation of the PGL of Linlithgowshire
which was headed by the IPPGM Bro George Preston. Bro Andrew Shaw PM of
1305 was presented with his 50 year Membership Diploma. A most
enjoyable evening was had by all. |

The RWPGM attended the Annual Visitation of Lodge St Molios No.774 Lamlash, Isle of Arran on Saturday 11 April 2009. He was a guest of the RWPGM of Argyll and the Isles, Brother Douglas Craig. The RWM of the Lodge, Brother John Corbett, welcomed the large Deputation form the PGL with a special welcome to our own PGM. The Lodge worked an excellent FCD on one candidate. At the close of the Meeting and after receiving a Favourable Report from the PGL, Honorary Membership was conferred on Brother Craig the PGM of the Province. The whole day was most enjoyable with a very good attendance of visitors. |

On 7 April RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers attended the Masters Dinner for the PGL of Dunbartonshire. RWPGM Bro. Thomas Leckenby gave a warm welcome to our RWPGM who, after a good meal, delivered his talk on the 3 gentlemen who were responsible for starting the Burns Federation. At the end of the talk, RWPGM Bro. Archie proposed a toast to the Bard. The format of the Dinner was different this year to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the Birth of Robert Burns. |

On 12 March RWPGM Bro. Archibald Chalmers visited Lodge Mosspark No.1329. Bro. Archie and Bro. Stewart Cruickshank entered the Lodge as part of Deputation from The Provincial Grand Lodge of Glasgow headed by SPGM Bro. Lachlan TP Simpson. RWM Bro. Robert (Magic) Fleming welcomed the Deputation into the Lodge, having previously welcomed a large number of visitors, a large number from Ayrshire. The PGL of Glasgow were in attendance to carry out their Annual Visitation and 1329 were awarded a clear minute. |

The RWPGM, accompanied by DPGM Bro. Robert Little, attended the Quarterly Communication of the PGL of Stirlingshire, held at Denny, on Tuesday 24 February 2009. RWPGM Bro. John McKenzie presided. This was the first occasion that Ayrshire had formally been invited to attend. |

On Thursday 19 February 2009 the RWPGM, accompanied by DPGM Bro. Robert Little, Bro. Stewart Cruickshank VP of Stewards and William McIntosh D of Music, attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge Cumberland (Kilwinning) No.217 in Port Glasgow. This is the OLDEST purpose built Masonic Lodge in the World. The meeting was the Annual Visitation by the PGL of Renfrewshire West, headed by the RWPGM Bro. James W. Miller, who was pleased to grant the Lodge a Clear Minute. The main purpose for attending was to witness the presentation of a 50 year membership diploma to Bro Archie Hoey PM
217 and also a PM of The Anchor Lodge of Research No.1814. Archie is also a Past SPGW of Renfrewshire West and is a Grand Steward in Grand Lodge. To mark the occasion Bro Hoey presented the Lodge with a framed Lodge Banner. The RWPGM of Renfrewshire East was also in attendance. The RWM of Lodge 217 was delighted to have the three PGM's in the Lodge.
On Tuesday 17 February 2009 the RWPGM, accompanied by a number of PGL Office-bearers, attended the half-yearly Communication of the PGL of Kilwinning. 10 reigning PGM's were in attendance.

RWPGM Brother Archie Chalmers attended the Installation of the new RWPGM of Lanarkshire Upper Ward, Brother Thomas P. Millar, within the Masonic Lodge in Carluke on Saturday 14 February 2009. He had the pleasure of heading the Deputation of Sister Provincial Grand Lodges and also of Proposing the Toast to the PGL of Lanarkshire Upper Ward at the Dinner afterwards. The ceremonial was conducted by the MWGMM Bro. Charles Ian Robert Wolrige Gordon of Esslemont, in a first class manner, this being his debut at such an occasion. PGL of Ayrshire was represented by the RWPGM, DPGM Bro. Robert Little, SPGM Bro. Drew Rankine and PG Secretary Bro. Robert Stewart. The entertainment was by Bro. Liam Stewart WJW No.331 and his friend Bro. Andrew Kain of No.21. |

The RWPGM attended the Installation of Elected Office-bearers of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Renfrewshire West, held within the premises of Lodge Greenock St John No.175, on Friday 6 February 2009. The RWPGM headed the Deputation of Sister PGL's and was accompanied by Depute PGM Brother Robert Little. Brother James W. Miller the RWPGM of Renfrewshire West was delighted to welcome the Deputation into his Province and trusted that the friendships amongst the Provinces would be further cemented. The RWPGM's of Renfrewshire East, Kilwinning and Lanarkshire Middle Ward also being in attendance.

The RWPGM attended the 185th Anniversary Dinner of Lodge Union and Crown No.307, Barrhead, on Tuesday 3 February 2009. RWM Brother Colin Hamilton presided. The RWPGM of Renfrewshire East, Brother David Reid was also in attendance.
After the Dinner RWPGM Brother Archie Chalmers proposed a Toast to the Lodge. This was followed by a very entertaining look at the life of a Football Referee as experienced by Mr John Rowbottom. Also in the group photograph is Brother George Munn, RWM of Lodge Randolph No.1434.

David Reid welcomed the Deputation from the Sister Provinces headed by Bro. James Smithers RWPGM Dumfries and Galloway. Bro David then welcomed a Deputation from the Grand Lodge of Scotland headed by RW Depute Grand Master Bro. Archibald McGowan.The Installation was held at the premises of Lodge Prince of Wales No.426. following this a meal in the style of a Burns supper was held with several recitations. |

The Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master attended the Annual Installation and Festival of St Thomas at Lodge Mother Kilwinning No. 0 on Saturday 20 December 2008. Brother George Terris Stoddart was installed as Right Worshipful Master. His Installing Masters were Brother Dr. David K. Huggan and Brother Ian Garrett, both Past Masters of the Mother Lodge. The meeting was very well attended. The new Right Worshipful Master is a very well known Brother throughout the West of Scotland which reflected in the turn out. The Parade preceding the Festival of St Thomas was held in accordance with ancient custom with the Brethren parading the principal streets of the town led by a Pipe Band.

On Tuesday 25 November the RWPGM was invited by the PGL of Kilwinning to join with their RWPGM Bro David C. Bloomfield, at the Regular Meeting. The Degree of Fellowcraft was conducted in an exemplary manner by the RWM Bro Les Pearson and Brethren of Lodge Dalry Blair No.290. A deputation of Brethren from the District Grand Lodge of the Middle East headed by Bro. Dr Daljit Singh Nagreh was also in attendance. The RWM of The Mother Lodge Bro. Robert McCrea, was delighted with the entire proceedings stating that it was one of the highlights of his term as Master. |

On Monday 24 November 2008 the RWPGM attended the Regular Meeting of Lodge New Monkland Montrose No.88 for the purpose of presenting a Paper on “Lanarkshire VC winners”. He was accompanied by a good number of brethren from Ayrshire. The RWPGM of Lanarkshire Middle Ward, Bro. James L. Jack, led a large deputation from his Province, Lanarkshire Upper Ward and Ayrshire, into the Lodge much to the delight of the RWM and Brethren of Lodge No.88. Brother Samuel Morrison was presented with his 60 year Membership diploma. RWPGM Brother Chalmers then delivered his lecture at the close of which he presented a Plaque to the Lodge commemorating a brother of that Lodge having won the VC, Brother John Carmichael. PG Chaplain Bro. Rev Peter Price dedicated the plaque before it was handed over. Brother J G Baird, PM 127, recited a poem suitable to the occasion and much appreciated by the brethren. A most enjoyable evening was had by all in attendance. |

On Friday night 26 September 2008, the RWPGM of Ayrshire, Brother Archibald Chalmers, attended Lodge Greenock St John's No.175 for the purpose of making a presentation. He was accompanied by the RWPGM of Renfrewshire West, Brother James W. Miller, and both were warmly welcomed into the Lodge by the RWM, Brother Kenneth Tait.
Both PGM's made a joint resonation of two framed photographs of the
QE2 as she sailed in New York harbour some time in 1991. Most brethren will be aware that the QE2 was built near Greenock (at Clydebank) and the timing of the presentation was fitting due to the ship making its final return to Greenock in the first weekend in October 2008. The RWM thanked both for the gifts and stated that they would be given pride of place within the Lodge premises. As well as a personal gift for friendships made with the brethren in Greenock it was also to show a further bonding between the Provinces of Ayrshire and Renfrewshire West. (Unlike the Inter- Bowling Trophy the Province can retain these presents forever). |

On Saturday 20 Sep 2008 the RWPGM attended the Installation of Bro. Douglas Craig as the new RWPGM of Argyll and the Isles. The meeting was held in the Argyllshire Gathering Halls, Oban. The hall was filled to capacity and the MWGMM Brother Sir Archibald Donald Orr Ewing Bart, carried out the Ceremony of Installation with his usual dignity. The Commissioned Office Bearers were also installed. The RWPGM was accompanied by DPGM Bro.
Robert Little, SPGM Bro. Drew Rankine, PG Secy Bro. Robert Stewart. Grand Inner Guard Brother James Bell also attended. The ubiquitous Brother Murray Hunter of Lodge Stinchar Valley
No.1705 was also present. |
The Installation of the Provincial Grand Master and Commissioned Office Bearers of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Kilwinning was held within the Mother Lodge on 16 August 2008. The Installation was carried out by the Most Worshipful Grand Master Mason Brother Sir Archibald Orr Ewing Bart MA. The Provincial Grand Master of Ayrshire Brother Archie Chalmers had the honour of heading the Deputations from the Sister Provincial Grand Lodges. Brother David C Bloomfield was installed in to the chair with Brother Tom Wood Depute Master. Some other weel kent faces holding office are Substitute PGM Brother David AE Hodge, PGL Secretary Brother Andrew M Campbell and PGL Chaplain Brother James Brennan.

Following the Installation a dinner was held in the upstairs function hall where Toasts were given to The Queen by the PGM of Kilwinning. The Grand Lodge of Scotland was toasted by Brother David Wilson IP PGM and the reply given by Sir Archibald D.Orr Ewing Bart MA. Our own RWPGM Brother Archie Chalmers was delighted to propose the toast to the PGL of Kilwinning to which the new RWPGM replied. Depute PGM Brother Tom Wood proposed the toast to the Mother Lodge and Brother Robert McCrea RWM MK0 replied suitably.

On Friday 8tAugust 2008 the PGM travelled through to Portobello to
attend a Special Meeting of The Portobello Lodge No.226 The meeting
was to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the first ever Meeting of the Lodge --- before it was officially Chartered by Grand Lodge. The RWM Brother Jim Telford, welcomed the PGM of Midlothian Bro. Barry Nutley and the PGM of Ayrshire into the Lodge and thanked them for their attendance. The business of the evening was the conferring of the FCD on one candidate. At the close of the meeting the brethren, around 100, enjoyed a splendid buffet in the social club. The RWPGM was accompanied by Bro Stewart Cruickshank IPM 204 and Murray Hunter JD 1705. |

On Friday 11 July 2008 the RWPGM attended the Installation of Brother George Munn as RWM of Lodge Randolph No.1434 within the Masonic Temple, Cochrane Street, Barrhead. The RWPGM of Renfrewshire East, Brother David A. Reid was present as was the Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Scotland, Brother David M. Begg. Lodge Randolph is "The first Lodge of Enlightenment in Scotland" and after each Lodge meeting he brethren dine followed by a Guest Speaker. The reputation of Lodge Randolph is such that there attendances are very high indeed and visitors are warmly welcomed. The PGM was accompanied by the "ubiquitous" Brother J S Cruickshank PM Lodge Ayr St Paul No.204.
On Tuesday 3 June 2008 the PGM, in his guise as RWM of Lodge Stinchar Valley No.1705, travelled to Connell near Oban to attend the Regular Meeting of Lodge Earraghaidheal No.1822 in the Province of Argyll and the Isles. This evening was also the Annual Visit of the PGL headed by the Depute PGM Brother Lindsay Hunter. The RWM Brother Bannatyne MacLeod invited Brother Chalmers to deliver his talk on Sir Alexander Fleming which was greatly appreciated by all present. A fantastic journey was had on the way there but the homeward journey was marred by several road closures particularly the main A82 which meant an extra hour and more travel time.

On Wednesday 4 June 2008 the RWPGM, again in his capacity as RWM of Lodge Stinchar Valley No.1705, travelled to Lodge Moorpark No.1263, in Renfrewshire East. The RWM of the Lodge, Brother Alex Speirs invited the RWM to deliver his talk on Sir Alexander Fleming which was of much interest to the brethren assembled.

On Saturday 31 May 2008 the RWPGM attended a Special Meeting of Lodge The Royal Stuart No.1414 held within Johnstone Town Hall. RWM Brother Brian Quinn welcomed his RWPGM Brother David A. Reid and 20 other PGM's into the Lodge for the purpose of conferring the Entered Apprentice Degree on one Candidate. The MWGMM Brother Sir Archibald Donald Orr Ewing Bart, was also in attendance along with Substitute Grand Master Brother Archibald McGowan and Grand Secretary. The RWPGM of Ayrshire delivered the Lecture on the Signs and Secrets of the First Degree. It was a "unique" occasion in the history of the Scottish Craft and one which will hopefully be repeated in the future. |

On Friday 16 May 2008 the RWPGM attended Lodge Nethan St John No1289 in Kirkmuirhill, Lanarkshire, for the purpose of the Lodge's Annual Past Master's re-union. RWPGM being an Honorary Member of "1289" had arranged the entertainment for the evening in the person of Bro. Andy Dick a MM of Lodge St John No. 22 who delivered a first class slide show and presentation on the Covenanters. Bro Joe Baird PM Lodge Thistle No. 127 also provided entertainment on his keyboard as well as reciting some of his poems. A collection for Joe's nominated Charity -- the Children of India -- received £65 from the brethren present. Brother Andy was presented with a quaich from the PM's of "1289" for his labours. PM Bro. Stewart Cruickshank of Lodge Ayr St Paul No 204 was in attendance as a guest. |

PM Bro. Stewart Cruickshank of Lodge Ayr St Paul No.204 visited Lodge Old St Johns No.21 in Lanark, who meet in the village hall of Ravenstruther, on Mon 5 May as chauffeur to the RWPGM. PGL Secretary Bro. Robert Stewart as giving a talk on American Freemasonry. After the meeting RWM Bro. John Greenaway gave a presentation to PGL Secretary Bro. Robert. Other Ayrshire Brethren in the deputation were DPGM Bro. Robert Little, Bro.Liam Stewart, Bro. Murray Hunter and Bro.Fred Christie . |

The Installation of the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master Brother James W Miller of Renfrewshire West was held at Greenock Town Hall on Saturday 22 March 2008. The Ceremony was conducted by the Most Worshipful Grand Master Mason Bro. Sir Archibald Donald Orr Ewing, Baronet. Provincial Grand Master Bro. Archie Chalmers attended accompanied by Past Provincial Grand Master Bro. John H Ralston, Depute Provincial Grand Master Bro. Robert Little, Substitute Provincial Grand Masters Bro. William Steel, Neville Clark and Drew C Y Rankine, Past Substitute Provincial Grand Master Bro. Archie Patrick, Provincial Grand Secretary Bro. Robert W Stewart and Bro. William McIntosh Provincial Grand Lodge Office-Bearer. The entire day was very well organised and served as a reminder of things to come on Saturday 5 April at Troon when our own Provincial Grand Master is installed. Ayrshire and Renfrewshire West have enjoyed a friendly association for a long number of years and we look forward to continuing and developing that friendship. |
In his guise as RWM of Lodge Stinchar Valley No.1705, the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master was invited through to Lodge Discovery No.1789, Dundee which is a Lodge or Research and Instruction, to deliver a talk on Sir Alexander Fleming - Discoverer of Penicillin and Freemason. He was accompanied on that occasion by Murray Hunter SD 1705, Tom Dick PM 1590, JWN Laurie PM 127 and JS Cruickshank PM 204. They were made most welcome and enjoyed the hospitality of the RWM Ken Hepburn and the Lodge at the close of the meeting. It was well worth the journey through. |
