PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE OF AYRSHIRE SHOOTING COMPETITION

2010 Clay Pidgeon Shoot to be held 17th October venue to be advised
 
On Sunday 18 October the PGL of Ayrshire held the Annual 50 Bird Sporting Clay Pigeon Shoot. 24 Brethren and friends took part and raised 92 pounds for charity, this is a terrific achievement as we were unable to secure a sponsor. Our sincere thanks to all who supported the shoot, especially our only lady shooter Mrs Flo White and to the Brethren for raffles and all at North Ayrshire shooting ground for their assistance.
Winners of the Masonic closed were: 1st   Bro Fred Dean Lodge Thistle 127, 2nd Bro Davie Harvey PM Boswell St James 1011, 3rd  Bro Mervyn Stuart. 
Winners of the open were: 1st  Mr Derek Brown, 2nd Mr Hamish Kelly, Overall High Gun Mr Derek Brown.

The PGLA Clay Pigeon Shoot was held on 5 October 2008 at the North Ayrshire Shooting Ground, Blackstone Farm Dalry. The results of the shoot are as follows:

Masonic Closed 1st Bro Mervyn Stuart PM St James Newton-upon-Ayr No.125,  2nd Bro Robert Brown  Lodge Mother Kilwinning, 3rd Bro David Conn Lodge Mother Kilwinning. The Winner of the Open was Mr George Brown. As there was only one entrant the second place was given to first time shooter Bro Craig McAvoy Lodge St James Newton-upon-Ayr No.125. Overall High Gun Bro. Mervyn Stuart PM St James Newton-upon-Ayr No.125.

Our sincere thanks to the sponsors Bro David McColl BB Lodge Coila St Andrew No.1334 for sponsoring the trophies and Bro. Roddy McLean PM Lodge Thistle No.127and Bro Bill Dykes PM Lodge Coila St Andrew No.1334 for sponsoring the high gun. Our thanks to the PGM Bro Archie who came along and took some action shots then had to leave for another engagement hopefully next year he may be persuaded to have a go.

17 Brethren and friends attended the shoot on 14 October at Cowans Law, Moscow and raised the sum of £124 for fund raising. We would thank them for their support and to Cowans Law for their hospitality. The hot soup went down a treat on a rather cold day. Thanks are due to Bro Mervin and Bro David for organising the shoot and a special thanks to Bro Davie McColl BB Coila St Andrew No1334 who stepped in at the eleventh hour and saved the day.
